Cold weather dominated the conversation as the Los Angeles Rams traveled to Chicago to face the Bears in the Divisional Round, but the conditions ultimately played little role in the outcome. In a tightly contested defensive battle that featured three interceptions by the Rams’ secondary, kicker Harrison Mevis drilled a 42-yard field goal through the windy Chicago uprights to secure a 20–17 overtime victory and send the Rams to the NFC Championship.
The win sets up a highly anticipated showdown in Seattle against the division rival Seahawks, a matchup that feels tailor-made for the postseason stage. With the Rams and Seahawks splitting their regular-season series at one win apiece, the rubber match will determine who advances to Super Bowl LX.
Despite the moment's magnitude, the Rams’ approach remains unchanged. Head coach Sean McVay emphasized consistency as the team’s guiding principle as they prepare for Sunday’s game.
“We believe consistency is the truest measure of performance,” McVay said. “We know what’s at stake, but we also want our guys to go about their business like they would any other game."
That steady mindset has been evident throughout the week as the Rams have carried a calm, confident presence into their preparation. Star wide receiver Puka Nacua highlighted the trust within the locker room and the team’s readiness for the challenge ahead.
“We’re very confident in our group and have a lot of trust in one another,” Nacua said. “We know we’ll have opportunities to make plays, and we need to capitalize on those moments. We’re excited for the challenge.”
In what is shaping up to be the most evenly matched series of the postseason, the Rams now have a chance to make history. A win in Seattle would make them just the sixth team in NFL history to win three straight road games en route to the Super Bowl.
