Dodgers Take Final Home Series from Giants with Postseason Approaching

Updated: Sep 24

As the regular season winds down, the Dodgers closed out their final homestand of 2025 against longtime rival, the San Francisco Giants. Having already clinched a playoff berth on Friday, marking their 13th straight postseason appearance, the Dodgers enter the final week with their magic number to clinch the NL West down to just three. With October on the horizon, this final stretch doubles as both preparation and momentum-building for a possible Wild Card Series.

Saturday night’s matchup didn’t begin smoothly for Los Angeles, as starter Tyler Glasnow surrendered four runs in the opening frame. Despite his early command struggles, Glasnow settled in to deliver five innings, with four of them scoreless.

“Today was kind of all over the place [for me],” Glasnow admitted. “That game could’ve ended a lot differently, but we stuck in the game the whole time, which was easy for me to feed off of. I’m just glad I was able to salvage it and keep us in it.”

The Dodgers’ bats quickly picked him up, launching an offensive surge that featured home runs from Max Muncy, Michael Conforto, Tommy Edman, and Shohei Ohtani. Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández chipped in with RBI hits of their own, fueling a seven-run performance that buried the Giants.

“Our guys are starting to play playoff-caliber baseball,” said manager Dave Roberts. “You can see the gritty effort in each pitch and each play. It’s showing who our guys are at this important time.”

With Saturday night’s win, the Dodgers inch closer to locking up the division as they head into the final week of regular-season play. The Blue Crew will finish the year on the road, looking to carry this momentum into October, and with aspirations of becoming the first team since 2000 to capture back-to-back World Series titles.
